Dr. Jimenez-Sanchez obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He did his residency in Pediatrics at the National Institute of Pediatrics and earned his Ph.D. Degree in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, USA.

Dr. Jimenez-Sanchez is Professor of Genomic at the UNAM and Resident Investigator of the Mexican Health Fundation (FUNSALUD). He is also Director General of the National Institute of Genomic Medicne and affiliate member of the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins University.

His actual work focuses on the development of a national platform in genomic medicine for Mexico. This includes the conduction of major scientific research projects, including the production of the first haplotype map for the Mexican Mestizo population.
