Alberto Arellano Méndez is an ELSI (Ethical, Legal and Social Issues) researcher at the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN) of Mexico. His research focuses on human rights, right to scientific development and right to privacy.  He also is working as a counselor of Law and Genomics. He is currently studying for a master of law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he has completed his license of law. He has taken different courses related to bioethics research, equity and discrimination and has been a lecturer at UNAM law faculty on issues of bioethics and cloning.

He has written several articles on subjects related to genetics such as the Mexican perception of the development of bioethics, the legal framework of genomic medicine in Mexico, and information and genetic privacy.
